Alternate Jerseys

As far as I can tell, the Detroit Tigers are the only Major League Baseball team without an alternate (third) jersey. They wear their normal road unis on the road and the home whites with the Old English D at Comerica.

I cannot find information about alternate jerseys anywhere on the Web. I am confident that something is out there someplace!

In my research, I did find some interesting things, though both are about football helmets: the Steelers story and the 49ers helmet change that never happened.

Even the Yankees and Dodgers, two traditionalists, have alternate jerseys. It may be all about the marketing, I'm not sure. Remember the 70s-era Oakland Athletics had about 15 different uniform combinations (yellow, green, white).

Stay tuned.
