That Tiger Team

I've been noted to get a little too excited about the Tigers upcoming seasons. 

I'm the kid who used to by the season preview magazines (well, always The Sporting News) by where they picked the Tigers. I even bought the magazines when the Tigers were really, really, really bad. I don't know if I used the Tiger–pick formula from '95 through '05 or not. I must have just bought the TSN ones …

I do think that at the end of the season and for many years to come, we will look back on the '13 Tigers and refer to them in a statement like, "Remember that Tigers team." It's a solid group of baseball players with three possible Hall of Famers.

I look for big things once again. I think the pitching will be incredible — and that mixed with the solid line–up — so it should be a great baseball season for the Detroit Nine.

Back in July 2004, the girls didn't know what it was like to root, root, root for the Tigers during a winning season, but we still loved the Tigers. We even hung out throughout a long rain delay just to watch some baseball. Courtney (left) and Amber are now 20 and 21 and love going to Tigers games. Poor girls, I think the next April we went to a second game of the season in the snow!
