We had three really good seasons from Magglio Ordonez, but it looks like he might have lost his power. You really can't afford to be paying $18 million to a guy who hits .270 with 5 HR and 60 RBI. I think Maggs will end up released in the next two weeks. Sure, the players association will call foul, but I don't think they'll be able to win a grievance.

We had one good half from Gary Sheffield. He was a monster in the first half of '07, but that was it. He didn't do well in the second half or in '08. By the spring of '09, he had worn out his welcome (surprise, surprise) and the Tigers gave him his walking papers and $14 million.

Baseball is a fickle game ...
