Jack Frost is Warming Up (Wonder how the dude with the reindeer is feelin' - he'll be working soon!)
Last summer, I broke down and bought a Nikon D-60 camera. It's a DSLR and it's incredible. I've enjoyed taking pictures since I was young; my first camera was my mom's Pentax K-1000. It was a great SLR camera and I learned lots of tricks with it. I took it to college with me and used it during three or four photojournalism classes. It finally wore out from overuse a few years after college. I was SLR-less for many years. Finally, I decided I like taking pictures too much to "miss the shot" so often with a slow shutter speed on a decent digital camera. Research suggested that the D-60 would be a good "starter" DSLR for me. It's been lots of fun.
The above picture was taken with on aperature priority mode with an aperture of F11 and a shutter speed of 1/100. The below picture, also taken on aperture priority mode, used an aperture of F5 and shutter speed of 1/500. Personally, I like how the photo blurs with the lower aperture. Aperture priority is how I always shoot.
What do you think?

I'm thinking I like the crop on the second. I am in the market for a new camera... I was looking at the D60 and I think that's what I'm going to go with, a D90 would be WONDERFUL but at 2000$ I think I'll take a pass. :-)
There is a Sony out there the a200 that sounds better on paper, but I'm having trouble getting past the name SONY.
do you use an editing program Rick?
Angi,
I've never used Lightroom or anything like that, but I use photoshop to work on photos. I don't do much processing, though. The D60 is a great "starter" camera for a couple years. I'm sure I'll outgrow it, but for now, it rocks. Thanks!
