Warriner's English Grammar and Composition Second Course
I made a great discovery today. I was given a copy of Warriner's English Grammar and Composition, Second Course. In high school, I actually enjoyed learning from the "blue" version of the infamous book. The version I received today is "yellow" with a copyright date 1986. Anyway, it's a great source to solve arguments about usage.
"Use good to modify a noun or a pronoun; never use good to modify a verb. Use well to modify a verb." That just about says it all, right?
I'll come back to this post later. I'm having Internet problems and cannot add a couple of the sources that I know are important to making this a good post.
