Some quick, random thougths
I think the hiring of Rick Knapp was a great move by the Tigers. He's the new pitching coach. It's a great hire for two reasons: 1) he is a "teacher" and instructs players on throwing strikes and 2) he leaves the Twins and the effect will be felt in Minnesota.
The Lions of Detroit, a National Football League team, may be the worst run professional sports organization. At least with the Michigan Wolverines, you can see the direction the new coach is going. It appears that they are running a strong offense but they just don't have the correct personnel to pull it off. Some would argue that the coach should adjust to the personnel, not the personnel to the coach. This philosophical discussion could go on all night.
I finally bought myself an iPod larger than an original Shuffle. It's a 120 GB classic. It's packed with 5,000 songs and there's about 100 GB left. I don't know what took me so long to buy an iPod, except that I was waiting for price to = size. What do I mean? If I don't purchase an item as an early adopter (many times, I do) I wait until the "perfect storm," e.g. the price of an iPod for the amount of storage space cannot get a whole lot better than 120 GB for $249. Plus, I probably wouldn't have bought a new iPod, but the Shuffle quit working and I enjoy listening to music or podcasts while walking.
I'm watching the Rays and hoping they pull it off tonight!!!
