http://delicious.com

Do you use the Web 2.0 site called Delicious? If not, why aren't you using it?

Delicious allows you to bookmark sites on any computer and, once you log in at http://delicious.com, find them on any computer anywhere in the world. That's just the first cool thing about Delicious.

Another cool thing is that you can "tag" your bookmarks with a tag like "education" or "baseball" or "fonts." Those are just a few of the tags I have used recently. You can use Delicious in in either a conservative or liberal manner.

If you want to be selective in what you bookmark, just pick one or two sites a week to bookmark. And make sure you only give each bookmark one tag. The outcome of this type of deliciousing is that you will be stuck one day and saying to someone, "Man, I know I saw that information on a Web site last week. I sure wish I could remember the site. I'll google that topic and see what I fine."

If you use Delicious liberally — the way I believe it should be used — you'll find a Web site you think will help you eventually and you'll give it a couple of tags (or even three) and you'll be able to access it as soon as you need it.

For example, if you're working with Google Docs in your place of business, it would be helpful for you to tag and bookmark several things that you find about Google Docs, e.g. http://tbarrett.edublogs.org/2008/08/23/10-google-forms-for-the-classroom/. I bookmarked that site and tagged it with just "google," but I could have added "forms," "docs," or any other reminder word.

The final cool aspect of using Delicous is that you can search other people's tags and find articles and sites that people have bookmarked and tagged. I found some great information on educational leader Doug Reeves recently. Another time, I ended up subscribing to a blog when I searched for information on Rick DuFour in Delicious. Just earlier tonight, I received an entry ... and I had forgot that I subscribed to their blog when I linked to it via a tab. It's a lot less complicated than I'm making it sound.

You should Delicious today if you're not already. My "handle" is DelciousFlickr. Make me a contact and share your information with me ...
