Bait & Switch

Tricky Sunoco Sign

Stopping off in Fowlerville, Michigan, last week, we decided to gas up the Pontiac Grand Prix. The small community with many fast food restaurants along I–96, is appealing because it's easy on/easy off and features many choices for gassing up — both with petroleum and food.

I noticed the Sunoco had a really good price, $3.659 a gallon. I swung in, jumped out, and began gassing up ... for $3.71. Now, it's convenient to use your debit card right at the pump, but is it worth 6¢ a gallon? I don't think so. But, I fell victim to the "bait & switch" tactic at the Sunoco. Of course, once you've started pumping, there's no stopping!
