Grandy and the Pudge–less Cats
What a game. Trailing 8–1 by the 3rd inning ... and winning it in 13 innings, 14–12. A great comeback win, a wonderful night for the Detroit Nine. We won't miss Pudge, but we'll have great memories of the difference Pudge made when he arrived. Remember, the team was 43–119 the year before he arrived. The Tigers got down early tonight and rallied back. Great games by Granderson (five hits) and Cabrera (clutch hitting) contributed. Nate Robertson did not pitch well. At all. Todd Jones gave up a homer in the SIXTH inning! Kenny Rogers was warming up in the 12th/13th inning.
14 runs, 22 hits, 2 errors for the Tigers
12 runs, 19 hits, 4 errors for the Indians
Kelly Shoppach went 5–6 with two HR and three 2B (not a bad game) but struck out with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 12th. Hey, it's almost 1 a.m. It's time for bed and the Tigers and Indians play at noon.
Good night/good morning.
