Cabrera & Willis (Smoltz 20 years later?)

IF I HAD IT, I WOULD PLACE A PICTURE FROM THE TIGERS GAMES IN THE 80S WHEN THEY WOULD LOSE AND THE TIGER LOGO WOULD HAVE AN ICE PACK ON ITS HEAD. I CAN'T FIND IT. BUT THAT'S THE PICTURE I WOULD PUT HERE.

I liked the trade when it happened, even though it meant the Tigers were giving up a great deal of their future. Maybin and Miller will probably turn out pretty good; even if Miller has struggled so far and Maybin is in the minors. The trade certainly was a splash and really put the team on the baseball map, but it sure does fry the nerves these days.

It's not just that Willis is on the disabled list or that Cabrera appears to have left his hitting shoes and bat in Florida ... The Tigers pitching has been—at best—inconsistent. The bullpen has been better than the starters, but you wouldn't know that listening to the media.

Actually, I think this is a bad team:

Catcher: slowed way down; poor on offense and defense.
First baseman: not good defensively; not enough offense for first base
Second baseman: good ball player
Short stop: no range, weak bat
Third baseman: great future; seems lost
Left field: good field, little hit
Center field: bring back Curtis
Right field: Maggs!

Starters: average as best, after Justin Verlander
Relievers: weak bullpen

Bench: decent

Overall, this team is not good. It's paid a lot. Won't perform.

Ouch.

Here are some numbers, some stats, some interesting little morsels.....
2-10......4....what are these your asking yourselves....

2-10 the tigers record after 12 games....what a joke...when will the fire jimmy leyland media talk start.....

4....that is the number of times the tigers have been shut out....shut out as in scored zero runs.....what happened to this potent lineup....maggs..cabrera...pudge...they stink.....they are in the toilet....

rather comical the only tiger hitting at a decent pace....BRANDON INGE....a guy that plays the game the right way...a guy that would do anything for the tigers....but now after basically casting this ball player to the scrap pile...he is the only one actually still performing in a major league way.....keep up the good work brandon...will your overpaid teammates continue to stink....dombrowski and ilitch...you are getting what you deserve...treat others the way you want to be treated.....

oh boy...the tigers have won 2 in a row.....now before everyone jumps back on the bandwagon just remember where you were and what state of mind you were in before this two game winning streak..i can guarantee that darn near 99.9% of you were jumping off the tigers bandwagon...calling for porcello and other unproven rookies....how quickly you tiger fans jump back on the bandwagon.....
