Surprising customer service

I'll write more about it later, but the Meridian Mall in Lansing was filled with unhappy workers who had no interest in helping guests get anything remotely looking like decent service.

A group of us went shopping in Lansing Saturday. Sure, it was six guys with vastly different shopping agendas, but the subpar service in many stores was surprising (or was it?) None of us really shopped together, we more or less went our own ways.

At one store, one guy went through three different salespeople until he received an answer that seemed somewhat passable. The first two employees were standoffish and didn't even want to check the back stock; however, a third person said, "Well, we can check in the back and see if any are there from open packages." Funny, because the second person he talked to said, "Nope. Everything is out."

Well, the third person did go in the back and come back with the item. The worker, though, said, "I've tried to package these and can't get it right. You'll have to package them yourself. We'll give you a box." It was gruff, unfriendly, but he had what he was looking for finally.

He waited in line for a few minutes before finally saying to the salesperson, "If you really can't package these, you can keep them."

More on this report after Christmas so we can highlight the store and the present!

Christmas Cheers!!!

Rick, Rick, Rick...your blog has entered an all time low....your complaining, like a woman, about shopping, customer service, and poor communication. I can honestly say this is an all-time low for you. What a shame. Why not expand on the Mitchell report, why not talk about CMU's win of U of M, hell, why not talk about the huge numbers of current and former yankees in the mitchell report. But nonetheless you choose to talk about 6 guys going shopping together. WOW what a major setback.
