October 10, 2007

The other night I uttered something I never thought I'd say: "Go Indians."

I am the farthest thing from an Indian fan. But, October is the season you're supposed to hate the Yankees, right? I believe that's what we all learned on October 7, 2006. Tommy Lasorda said that loud and clear.

Quick hits:
I remember last October when Kirk Gibson said that the Tigers' playoffs run had him energized and rejuvenated. Now, he's helped to lead the Diamondbacks to the National League Championship Series.

The Rockies' current run is awesome. I've never really been a fan of these expansion teams making big runs, the the Rockies are really rolling right now.

The American League match-up between the Red Sox and Indians is a classic. The Sox finally won a Series title in '04, but it's been a LONG time since the Indians have dumped champaign after their final win of the season.

The only manager who would have the ability to run the Yankees as they're accustomed is current Cardinals' manager Tony LaRussa. He would move into Joe Torre's office and probably do all right. Interestingly, LaRussa basically replaced Torre in St. Louis, as well. What do you think? Dave Duncan would also join the Yankees, presumably.

Don Mattingly, Joe Girardi, etc. They are not ready to manage in New York City.

Go Diamondbacks!!! (It's no longer the season to root for the Indians ... they're not playing the Yankees anymore!)
