The Great Lottery Debate

I tried to pretend it wasn't true. I ignored the postings on the Tigers Web site. I really acted like it was still going to be a good day Saturday morning. But, it's true. This information will bum you out if you're like me and enjoy the rush of ordering Opening Day tickets each year.

So, if you are my friend, family member, or just someone reading this blog and you have little or no interest in going to Opening Day, consider signing up for the lottery. I know that you'll be able to move the tickets.

Information follows:

To get into the lottery, applicants must register online at tigers.com or by calling (313) 471-BALL. The registration period runs from 9 a.m. on Friday, March 2, until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 11. Winners will be selected at random the week of March 12 and notified by email -- or by phone if they registered that way -- no later than Friday, March 16. They'll be eligible to purchase two Opening Day tickets.

I think this is a total bummer!

I just purchased 6 tickets for my dad's birthday present. We will be sitting in the bleachers taking in some baseball and having a few afternoon "pops" at the game April 4th. His birthday is actually the 3rd but they don't play then and I am sure I wasn't going to win the lottery for opening day sales, plus they only allowed for two tickets to be purchased. Who do you think I will see pitching? I am guessing the Gambler as Verlander will be moved to the #1. I'm thinking Verlander, Rogers, Bonderman, Robertson, Miller. That sounds like an even tougher rotation than last year!
