The Heitmeyer Pub

When we entertain at our house, we invite people to The Heitmeyer Pub. Our basement was finished a few years ago and the highlight is an honest-to-goodness bar. We have entertained a great many people the last few years.

It's kind of like Cheers, where everybody knows your name. There are regulars. There are sometimes hot-heads. Sometimes things get broken. But, most of the time, everyone has a great time.

Last night, we hosted a staff Christmas celebration for the staff at the elementary school where I am the principal. Everyone had a great time, I think.

One of the coolest parts of the night, though, was when Mark Grossbauer (Tina, his wife, is a first grade teacher) took Steve L-O-Double T and Tuna out to his car for a few minutes. When they came back in, they had an awesome bar mirror complete with the name The Heitmeyers' Pub. How totally cool.

The next step is to either get it framed or to hang it with mirror brackets. I'll have to consult my dad on this one ... It's really a cool gift, and totally a surprise. So, thanks Mark and Tina for the awesome addition to the basement, and thanks to all who knew about it for keeping it a secret. It was a great surprise!

Cheers! And Merry Christmas!
