Lifelong Tiger Fan Blues (Continue)
The Tigers made the playoffs. I should not be upset.
The Tigers won 95 games, 24 more than last year and 52 more than three seasons ago. I should not be upset.
The Tigers were in first place beginning on May 21 -- all by themselves. The Twins were only in first place by themselves for one game. TODAY. The ONLY day it mattered all year.
The Tigers get to go to New York City to play the Yankees. The Twins get to have the Oakland Athletics visit.
Today was an up-and-down game to attend. I still can't believe the turns the game took. The Tigers were out to a quick 6-0 lead. We joked that six runs was too big a lead for Bonderman to control. The joke was on us. He couldn't hold it.
Zoom Zoom Zumaya was in the game in the FIFTH inning today. The fifth.
The Tigers have had a great season. It's a shame that the Kansas City Royals were able to sweep us at home for THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1980! Ouch.
Choke.

Inexperience, youth and the inability to play good baseball (pitching, defense and timely hitting) in the last month and a half killed the Tigers. Yesterdays game was the perfect example of that, the pitchers couldn't get outs and walked batters, errors (Inge!) and bases loaded with one out in the 11th (Inge again!). I have decided to look at the playoffs as gravy to a great summer. No expectations, just extra baseball. You never know.
You never can tell!
C'mon boys!!!! Get a little romantic will ya?? Cinderella story! They need to redeem themselves....wouldn't it be cool if????
I know, I know, you probably don't want to get your hopes up again...but what the heck...!?
There's no place to go but up!
