Attending Conferences

Today, I am at a conference in Lansing, Michigan. It's the Assist Conference Follow-up Session at the Lansing Center. This conference started August 9 in Glen Arbor, Michigan. Assist is an awesome resource for people involved in new teacher induction. I am working on my Education Specialist Degree at Central Michigan University. My thesis involves the implementation of new teacher induction/orientation programs and their effect on new teachers.

I first became interested in developing programming for new teachers after being given a key and "good luck" at my first teaching job. I never wanted anyone to have to experience the "rough" first year that I endured. We developed a new teacher program at Vestaburg several years ago and replicated and updated it at Central Montcalm. The program kicks off for its second year next Monday. I am excited about the program and will post information about the agenda and feedback that we receive.

I will also post more about this trip to Lansing.
