Back to Work

The teachers were all back in the "office" today, getting classrooms set, planning for the start of the school year, and getting back together. We are excited about the school year. Currently, we have some classes with higher numbers than we would like and we have one fewer teacher than last year, but most of the teachers are excited about the year. I have heard from a couple different people, "I have a great feeling about this year."

Today, at our "Welcome Back" breakfast, our entire staff watched the video about the "Fish! Philosophy." It was well-received and it's one of those movies/documentaries where you catch something you missed everytime you watch it. Anyway, the four components of the philosphy are: choose your attitude, make their day, be there, and play. I think the most important one of those is CHOOSE YOUR ATTITUDE. I remember talking to my daughter Amber many times when she was younger about her attitude. We even got to the point of getting her a large, extended poster-like item that draped across her room that said, "Attitude is a little word that make a BIG difference." She was in second grade!

Once anyone learns to choose a good attitude, it makes a great difference in their life. I think the teachers at Central Montcalm and Sheridan Elementary School have made the choice that, despite the current economic problems we face, they will have good attitudes. We're all excited for the beginning of another great year!

Thanks for tuning in!!!
