Monday on a Wednesday

Mondays are always the toughest day of the week. It's back to the grind. Today feels like a Monday, but it's a Wednesday. Last night, I was thinking, "Did I take the garbage out to the road?" Yeah, I did that Sunday night ...

When I was a kid, my dad would always say, "Summer's over now" after celebrating the Fourth of July. Even though summer is just getting into the thick of things, it'll be gone before we really know it! The Fourth of July meant a lot more "back in the day," I think. It seems like people celebrated it more, especially, of course, in 1976; however, it seems that Independence Day is not as revered as it used to be. I suppose many things aren't ...

Have a great Monday, er Wednesday. Just think, we're that much closer to another summer week-end!!!

Thanks for reading ...

Yeah, when I was teaching in Ionia, we looked at when the Ionia Free Fair had concluded as "time to get back into our classrooms"...

The Fourth of July was my favorite holiday as a kid growing up--spent time in Munising, Michigan. The only "bad" Fourth I can remember was getting chicken pox on July 3rd when I was 12...I think I cried for days!

Now here's an idea--maybe since the State's taken action to preserve Labor Day for family vacations, maybe they should do something similar for Independence Day--close all public buildings the day before/the day after...to promote tourism...I'd be "for" it!
