The below information is from the above link. I don't know about saving the grand old place, but I do understand the historical value to the people of this great state. I've often thought that if they could get it playable that they could host a couple of week-end series in June or July and charge $150 a ticket and still sell out the 54,000 seats. Yes, even the seats behind a post. They weren't really that bad, were they?

Visit Tiger Stadium

The ballpark is located at 2121 Trumbull Avenue, in the Corktown neighborhood of downtown Detroit. Left field runs along what was once known as Cherry Street, and is now known as Kaline Drive, and corners Interstate Highway 75. Third base is on old National Avenue (now Cochrane Avenue); first base, which is the southeast portion of the stadium, runs along Michigan Avenue; and right field is adjacent to Trumbull Avenue.

Many of the businesses around the location, which relied heavily on Tiger Stadium, have closed or relocated. But a few are still there. The exterior of Tiger Stadium looks much the same as it did after the final game was played on September 27, 1999. Visit the old ballpark, take pictures, and rekindle the memories that are held there. Once you've done that, write the Mayor of Detroit, or phone his office, or sign our petition. One voice can make a difference.

It's time to let go. Tiger Stadium will never be what it was and nothing will be able to take away the memories from the past. It is time for the city of Detroit to make a move on the old ballpark. It would be nice to see it somehow developed so the structure could remain the same and it could rejuvinate the city of Detroit.
