The Playoffs

World Series Baseball

It's different when it's your team.

I've watched many Tigers playoff games, and you hang on every single pitch.

Last night I had the opportunity to watch the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros in Washington, D.C., at Nationals Park in World Series game number four. It's a bit different when it's not your favorite team. You don't watch the game the same.
World Series in Washington, D.C.

When you watch your favorite team game in and game out for — well, you know — every single game for 30 years, you learn so much about the players, the team, the managers, and the coaches. You know all the prospects, everyone who might have a chance to come up with the team, etc.

The Nationals have been my second favorite team for a few years since I started going to games in D.C. But I don't know every single little thing about the organization. The World Series was a great time, so much fun. Being in Nationals Park end taking in all the noise, all the excitement, and cheering along with the faithful was awesome. The banter between the Nationals and Astros fans was fun to listen to, and it was different because I didn't have any real stake in the conversations.

Tyler and I took off at 5 a.m. on Saturday morning and we were in Chicago by 7:35 a.m. Central Time — and Washington, D.C. by 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time. We were able to take in my nephew Morgan's fall ballgame, then head down to the old (new) ballpark …

The Astros won 8–1, with Astro slugger and likely American League MVP Alex Bregman hitting a massive grand slam to put the game on ice. The Series is tied two games to two, with game five tonight.
