Margaritaville??? A State of Mind
Jimmy Buffett ... an American legend. I remember when my parents would play his album Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes in the seventies and eighties ... Jimmy Buffett, perfect music for any party, right?
He had a peak in '76 when "Margaritaville" became a hit (this is after several years of struggle) but he disappeared in the eighties — not really, he recorded several non–memorable albums. In the early nineties, he had a renaissance and became a sell–out artist (by that, I mean he started selling out every show, everywhere).
My sister became a fan and we went to a couple shows. Then, she continued to go to shows (many, many over the years, and all over the place) and finally, my parents went along. Now, the only CD or MP3 in Mom's music player is JB.
When they were in Key West recently, Mom and Dad went to Margaritaville, the flagship store. They ate there, bought some artifacts, etc. AND THE NEXT NIGHT, JIMMY SHOWED UP AND PLAYED! Talk about being a day early and a dollar up!
Margaritaville ... a state of mind. Because it's five o'clock somewhere.
