The Tigers Are Back

Thanks to HueyTaxi for this Rick Porcello picture. Could Porcello join the Tigers in '09?

Yea, the Tigers are back and Rick's Writing About the Tigers Again. My educational readers probably just uttered a loud, "Oh, no, not that again!" Last year, we were all so excited about the Tigers' outstanding line-up, but by April 10, we knew it was going to be a LONG season.

The Tigers' brass made some minor tweaks during the off season (nothing like those money printing Yankees, did, eh?) and I like the moves. I don't remember a more disappointing acquisition than Edgar Renteria (except maybe the Yankees' Carl Pavano ... but I digress). I don't know what the Giants owed the Tigers, but giving Edgar $18 million for two years was a nice gesture. Everett will fill in nicely at short stop. Of course, he may not hit much, but the Tigers should have some power from other spots.

Gerald Laird also seems excited to join the Tigers as a catcher, and he didn't cost a great amount. Plus, Matt Treanor signed to be a back-up, and seemed proud just to do that. It could be a fun season in Detroit Rock City once again.

the only thing we would like to see is you post on a more consistent basis...this 1 a week, then 3 in one day, then nothing again for a week is very frustrating....
