The Walmart Behemoth

Meaningless disclaimer — The author of this site has no intention of dissing on Walmart regularly, but ... here we go again.

The place: Alma, Michigan.

The time: Mid–afternoon

Basically, Lori and I needed to pick up a few items: new keys for the house (they sure get lost easily), wiper blades for a couple of cars, lock de–icer for the young drivers, a light bulb (wrong one), etc. No big deal, right? In and out in ten minutes.

After ten minutes, no one had arrived at the sporting good counter. I walked from department to department searching for someone. Two employees: "Yea, somebody should be working there." No attempt to find anyone or to radio somebody. There were hundreds of cars in the parking lot, many customers wandering and shopping, and nobody to help them.

I googled Walmart Alma MI on my cellphone, got the number [(989) 463–6770], and called them. I explained that I was at sporting goods and had searched everywhere for someone to copy keys and could find no one. The operator said she would send someone. Five minutes later ... "Benny to sporting goods please. Customer assistance at sporting goods. Benny to sporting goods please." It took five minutes just to MAKE A CALL.

Ah, and I bought the wrong bulb (large prongs, not small) so now I have to return to the scene of their crime.

I seen the manager of the Alma Walmart pushing two shopping carts from the Thrifty Acres in Mt. Pleasant a few weeks ago.
