Drew Sharp Gets It Right

The bleacher creatures used to fight with words. In the '80s, management erected sign: "Bleachers closed. The management." Oh, the good old days when management would sacrifice sales in order to maintain environment. They probably played double headers for the cost of one ticket back then.

I'm not a great admirer of Drew Sharp articles, but I can't say it any better than this:

Any team willing to place the final nail in the coffin better enjoy the 1.5 million fans who WON'T go to the COPA this year. Come on, Tigers, that's STUPID. You just laid the STUPID TAX on the fans in Michigan.

I've heard of a faux paus, but that's basically a good old fashioned fun que to all of the Tiger fans. If you wonder where the term fau que came from, think back to the bleacher battles in Tiger Stadium in the '80s. Chanting like a Miller Lite commercial, one side would chant about each hit while the other would encourage a fun que. Thanks to the late Joe Falls for filling me in on the chants when I was a youngster. It made complete sense ...
