Our Troubled Land
I enjoy the political process. I do not enjoy watching a candidate tell you why his opponent(s) are the WRONG choice. I would much rather you market yourself and convince me why you are the RIGHT choice. Anyway, marketing and the politico would seem to go hand in hand. Guerrilla marketing, especially. The greatest guerrilla marketing ploy of the 2008 election: John McCain giving up on Michigan. The State that exhibits the biggest problems. The State that has been abandoned by many major corporations and the one with THE BIG THREE — all on the brink of bankruptcy. Must be that the Big 3 lobbiests aren't lobbying hard anymore because to give up on Michigan is to give up on the people of Michigan.
Washington Independent via Huffington Post: "To be certain, McCain’s move–or move-out–took all sides by surprise. As the darkened Detroit afternoon turned into a chilly night, political operatives and reporters alike were left a little like the characters in 'Heroes' — disoriented and confused after the Haitian guy wipes away their memories."
In '92, I watched Bill Clinton "wow" the audience in East Lansing. Rumors swirled that he marketed himself to each crowd. And, he did. His hair, darker, his vision, livelier on September 25, 1992. His message was "moving forward." And our country and state had a great run in the '90s. It's ironic, then, that Clinton's unstated (?) goal of a house for everyone (banks — give that money to all) and his support/demand of the NAFTA (In the United States, NAFTA was able to secure passage after Bill Clinton made its passage a major legislative priority in 1993. Clinton's Trade Representative, Mickey Kantor, was a strong advocate of the treaty. Since the agreement had been signed by Bush under his fast-track prerogative, Clinton did not alter the original agreement, but complemented it with the aforementioned NAAEC and NAALC. After intense political debate and the negotiation of these side agreements, the U.S. House of Representatives passed NAFTA on November 17, 1993, by 234-200 vote (132 Republicans and 102 Democrats voting in favor; 43 Republicans, 156 Democrats, and 1 independent against),[13] and the U.S. Senate passed it on the last day of its 1993 session, November 20, 1993, by 61-38 vote (34 Republicans and 27 Democrats voting in favor; 10 Republicans and 28 Democrats against, with 1 Democrat opponent not voting -- Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-ND), an ardent foe of NAFTA, missed the vote because of an illness in his family).[14], Wikipedia) has caused the downfall of American manufacturing.

Barack Hussein Obama II (pronounced /bəˈrɑːk hʊˈseɪn oʊˈbɑːmə/; born August 4, 1961) is the junior United States Senator from Illinois and presidential nominee of the Democratic Party in the 2008 general election (Wikipedia source).
You can bet that this Illinois Senator and Chicago White Sox fan will tell Michigan: "I will not give up on you, Michigan. I love you!" or something like that. He will win Michigan. Heck, is there anyone left here who will vote for McCain?
Oh, and when is Joe Biden going to drop out (health reasons, you know) and allow Hillary Clinton (what happened to Rodham?) to join Obama on his ride to the Whitehouse?
