Carlos Pena Was a Detroit Tiger One Time
As Carlos Pena slammed a long two–run home run in the first inning of game for of the American League Championship Series tonight, I shouted, "Oh yeah." Then I said, for fun, "Where can the Detroit Tigers get a ball player like him?" He could turn out to be a World Series hero this year, ala former Tiger Luis Gonzalez for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2001. I can't say I was upset when Pena Jim Leyland released Pena in March 2006, but I didn't lament like Greg Eno on Out of Bounds. Carlos is tearing it up for the Rays. It's great to see him as a leader of the Tampa Bay Nine.
