Oreo Dirt Cake
If you want to mix together a really good dessert that will be a hit, try this take on the famous Oreo Dirt Cake. I've made a few changes from the traditional and I hope you try it. Dirt Cake was a huge hit at our family reunion this week–end.
You'll need about two packages of Oreo cookies, 16 oz. of cream cheese, 2 cups of cold milk, 16 oz. of Cool Whip Whipped Topping, 1 and a half sticks of unsalted butter, 1 large package of vanilla pudding, and a cup of powdered sugar.
First, make the pudding and let it sit in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
Next, crush the Oreos in a large plastic bag (it saves a huge mess!) Place about half of them on the bottom of your deep dish 9 X 13 pan.
Next mix the butter, cream cheese, and powdered sugar in a large bowl. Use a mixer.
Then, add in the whipped topping and stir together. Finally, add the pudding and stir well.
Spread half the mixture onto the cookies. Add another layer of cookies (but do not use all of them yet!)
Add one more layer of the mixture.
Top with assorted cookies (does not have to completely cover the dessert).
Photographs from the family reunion will be forthcoming.
