Major trade with Marlin in the works!
The Associated Press is wondering:
"The Rockies, 8½ games out entering Thursday, may trade reliever Brian Fuentes but hang onto All-Star outfielder Matt Holliday. The Tigers, seven out, must decide whether to keep catcher Ivan Rodriguez, shortstop Edgar Renteria and DH Gary Sheffield."
I've got a deal for the Florida Marlins (a way to bring back the "Glory Days"):
Todd Jones, Edgar Renteria, Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez, Gary Sheffield, minor leaguer Dontrelle Willis, and $28 million for Cameron Maybin, Andrew Miller, Mike Rabelo, Dallas Trahern, Eulogio de la Cruz and Burke Badenhop (need some prospects).
YEAH, RIGHT!
The Marlins are 2–1/2 games back right now and could use some veteran bats and leadership. Sure, Renteria would be an (expensive) reserve and Sheff would be a pinch hitter, but Willis will be able to jump in and provide innings (and walks) right now.
I always wanted to retire as a Marlin ...
Just having fun everyone! I love the Tigers but the article got me a bit fired up for a Saturday morning. Who's going to acquire Renteria or Sheffield? Come on!
Eat 'em up, Tigers. Eat 'em up!
