The quick demise of the Tigers

Oh 2003 was about so much more. 2003 was about avoiding 120 losses and being forever shamed. 2003 was about a team that nobody wanted and probably wasn't even good enough to compete at the AAA level in Toledo. But that team pulled together in the end to avoid ... infamy.

Oh 2008 is about so much more ... MONEY. The Tigers are the second highest paid team in the major leagues. But they have no cohesiveness, they are truly several well–paid individuals who aren't even focusing on their own statistics. What can be said that when the only three home runs (FROM THIS TEAM) are by rookie Matt Joyce ... the last 10 days.

Let's see, we had concerns about the starting pitching last year. Our concern was that the pitchers weren't pitching far enough into games. It's worse this season. Our starters are barely making it to the fifth inning. We don't need Fernando (the human game delay) Rodney or Joel Zumaya back. We need starters who can get a few innings under the belts.

But, even beyond the starting pitching. This team that was supposed to score 1,000 runs ... they have been shut out six times already. Six times! Their at bats are terrible, their approach worse.

Somewhere Alan Trammell (Chicago), Kirk Gibson (Arizona), and Bruce Fields (Cleveland organization) are smiling. Sometimes, you don't even win with talent.

Cheers!
