The long lost SSK baseball glove
It disappeared in April, sometime around the 19th. It doesn't get used nearly as much as it used to, but 20 years ago it got lots of action. Once in a while, it gets out of an ADIDAS gym bag, but not as often as it would like. Then, one day it got some action. A few days later it was gone, missing. My SSK baseball mitt disappeared. I was bummed disappointed.
I called the athletic directors at a couple of different schools, checked with some other people and kept asking the softball players if they happened to come across it anywhere in any of our team equipment bags.
Tonight, we were hosting a youth league clinic and I ran to the truck to get a camera to take some pics. This is where you think I suddenly found my mitt in my truck ... but, nope. A coach of a higher level youth league said, "Hey, I think I might have a glove that belongs to you." Apparently, it was in the dugout after practice one day in April.
The name on the mitt: Heity, my old night name. Of course, if it had my old phone number, it would have been a now–defunct "616" number from Elk Rapids. One of the first things we remind our players of every year is, "Put your name in your glove." I suppose "Heity" made sense in 1988 ...
Thanks to Dirk Chapin for finding and returning my long lost friend, er glove!
