R.I.P. (Yeah, 2006 this is not!)
Wow! The day the season officially ended for the Tigers. It’s September 2, 2007, and the Tigers might as well get their golf bags ready, pack for their off season vacations, and get ready to watch the playoffs on TBS. Ouch! How could they give this game away today?
Nate Robertson, you might end up traded or non-tendered or something, but you did an excellent job today. You deserve so much more than the Tigers have provided for your last few outings. Wow!
I don’t know what the Tigers will do. I’m sure the general manager will do in the off season. Maybe he can jettison his mistake, Brandon Inge. $24 million for four years. Yikes! Ouch! Wow!
Well, some thing the future looks really bright: Jeremy Bonderman, Justin Verlander, Andrew Miller, Rick Porcello, Cameron Maybin, Curtis Granderson, etc. Right now I’m worried about things in Detroit. Yeah, we’re three games from the playoffs, but they could be doing better. Wow!
How could they go from the best team in baseball at the All Star break to a below-average, barely breathing team in just a few short weeks? Easily. The starting pitching has not been good. In fact, it’s been nearly terrible. I thought today, when they led 7-0 that they would take 2 or 3 from the Athletics and be on their way to rocking and rolling toward the playoffs. Wow!
But each time they play like they did today, I get more and more disappointed. As I just said to Losey a few minutes ago, “2006 this is not.” I remember ’06 as the year the Tigers were able to “Restore the Roar.” What are they gonna do to get that attitude back? Wow!
