The Tigers Are Earning Some Serious Stripes
IN ADDITION TO THE GREAT ADDITION, THE GROWTH OF THE KIDS IS KEY
All right, it's time to talk about how good the Tigers really are in 2007.
They are damn good. No doubt about it.
If I were to pick first–half awards for the Tigers, I would select:
Gary Sheffield as the MVP. He makes EVERYONE on the team better. This dude is exactly what the Tigers lacked last season—and you have to give Mr. Dombrowski credit for making the trade right after the Series ended! Magglio would not be having his incredible season without the addition of Sheff. I can't believe that I booed him and yelled funny things to people wearing Sheff hats during the playoffs in Detroit last year. This dude, when you watch him every day, is incredible. Welcome to Detroit, Gary. His effect on Curtis Granderson should be noted, as well. I'd also give Gary the Comeback Player of the Year, as well.

Tigers Cy Young Award winner ... that would be our young gunner Justin Verlander. But, right on his heals is Jeremy Bonderman. My goodness, the Tigers young pitchers could be phenomenal—I mean, not that they aren't already! Wow.
When the bullpen (hey, Miner is doing great, Durbin pretty good, too) is intact, look out for these guys.
Remember the August slide last year ... think opposite this year. The Tigers are good. Really good.
I love this team!!!
