Robertson -- OUCH!
Wow, the Texas Rangers popped the Tigers early last night.
Nate Robertson did not have STUFF tonight, let alone "good stuff." He was terrible, walking two, giving up a couple hits, etc. Not a very good outing for Mr. GumTime! The bullpen (i.e. Jason Grilli, Zach Miner, Tim Byrdak, not-so-much Fernando Rodney) covered things up nicely. Indeed, Rodney returned and looked like he hadn't missed a relief appearance (as 2007 has gone, that is).
I'm okay with the loss, though. These types of things happen. I thought the Tigers would come back and win because the Rangers are not very good. The Tigers didn't win, though.
The Tigers are going to be all right. They are a solid team. The pitching will come around. I expect Kenny Rogers' return to be similar to the acquisition of Doyle Alexander in 1987. Twenty years ago ... can anyone out there believe that!
Byrdak
I posted the picture above from the Tigers Web site just in case you don't know what Tim Byrdak looks like! To conclude, do you remember the last Tiger to wear #34 who had a major impact on the team's performance?
Thanks for tuning in!
