Wal-mart is going out of business

It sure does look that way in Mt. Pleasant, anyway. Of course, Wal-mart is not GOING OUT OF BUSINESS, they're expanding their business in a HUGE way. The Wal-mart store that opening in 1990 is CLOSING. It will give way to a Super Wal-mart (right behind it) which is next door to a Sam's Club (featuring the new "classy" Sam's Club logo).

I remember several years ago that it was against Sam Walton's plans to build a super store right next to a Sam's Club; however, times change and it must be all right. That seems to be the way they build.

Sam's Club, Super Wal-mart, Kohl's, Menards. It seems that Mt. Pleasant is gaining some steam and "growing up." It was 1990 when I first arrived in the area and Wal-mart anchored one end of town and the new Meijer store the other end. The city has grown up in between and now, it's really expanding.

Now, all we need is an Olive Garden, Best Buy, and Barnes & Noble and all of our shopping needs can be fulfilled with a trip 20 miles north instead of 60 east or west.

What are the pluses and minuses of such expansion?

Cheers!
