Colts Win
I was 12 when it happened. I didn't understand it. All I knew was that it would have been weird if the Lions had done the same thing. In retrospect, it's too bad the Lions ... well, never mind.
Prior to the 1984 NFL season, the Baltimore Colts skipped town. They abandoned the city to move to the RCA Dome in Indianapolis. Apparently, the moved all of their belongings in 12 Mayflower trucks in the middle of the night. Many people in Baltimore can't get over it -- even though the 2001 Baltimore Ravens (formerly the Cleveland Browns ...) won a Super Bowl before the Indianapolis Colts finally did in 2007.
Congratulations to all the Colts fans out there. Even those of you who are still Colts fans and live in Baltimore ... Mr. Irsay moved the team away when the City of Baltimore wouldn't help construct a new stadium. On the other extreme of things, our very own Mr. Ford spent a lot of his own money to build what is arguably the best stadium in the NFL and he spends a lot of money each year to pay Mr. Millen to literally destroy the team. Lest we forget, the Lions were one win away from the playoffs under Bobby Ross/Gary Moeller when Millen was hired. His one requirement in a head coach: his last name must begin with the same initial as "Millen."
Cheers.
