We played them in the World Series in the 30s and in 1968. Some say it was one of the best Series ever.

Jim Leyland has been an employee of the Cards for the past several years. He is very good friends with Tony LaRussa, the manager of St. Louis. In fact, LaRussa gave Leyland his first job in the Major Leagues -- for the Chicago White Sox.
