We Just Have to Accept Some Facts!

The Tigers won tonight's game, 3-2. They finally pulled out a one-run game. Some facts about the game ...

Kenny Rogers pitched a very good game. He did not get the win. He will probably start three or four more games.

Fernando Rodney looked good tonight. Just stop having him come into games with runners on base. One or more will always score. When he starts the inning, he's at his best. I cannot site a specific stat on that, but my gut tells me it's true.

The Tigers managed six hits. Three of them left the park. That accounted for all three of their runs. When they had the chance to bunt people over, they chose the moneyball route and swung away. It didn't work.

Carlos Guillen may be the guy to put the team on his shoulders and carry them. He accounted for two of the runs tonight. You do the math. Mr. Jim Price, bad catcher and worse announcer, proclaimed him "our MVP" early in the season. I can't wait to get Carlos' partner back out there. Where have you gone, Placido Polanco?

This series with the Texas Rangers is crucial. Oakland is leading the Twins right now and the White Sox are just getting underway out west. The Tigers are up two games as I write this. It will move 1/2-game either way before the end of the night.

Did you know that Bobby Abreu drove in more runs in the first inning tonight that the Tigers have scored in their last three games combined (including tonight). Did you see that Alfonso Soriano is closing in on 40 home runs, 40 stolen bases, and 20 outfield assists. I guess the assists are normal, considering Craig Monroe had three himself tonight. Actually, I have never seen three outfield assists in one game in a long time, if ever!

Good win. Walk 0ff home run. Everybody's wet and happy. I guess tonight, it was all right to be wet!
