Bondy, Zumaya, and Jones (Oh My!)
I don't really know what mojo is or if it really exists. It was a Jim Morrison thing back in the late '60s with the rock 'n' roll band the Doors. You know, it's amazing how many of those bands from teh '60s are still out on the road. Must be good money in rock 'n' roll. Good money in baseball, too. Just ask Magglio Ordonez ....
Mags looks like the guy we spent the big bucks on a couple of winters ago. I don't know if it's because we were in Chicago, the town where the team gave up on him or what, but Magglio hit the ball hard, played "good" defense (for him), and looked like the team leader we coveted when we signed him. His home run last night (#23) was blasted way into centerfield. I don't even know if it would have made the warning track in Detroit Rock City. Maybe, it was a blast.
Anyway, back to the mojo ... the Tigers seem to have found a little bit of it ... at the right time! Things are going well. They took the series from the Sox, two games to one. Looked good in a complete series for the first time since the previous week-end ... Okay, that was somewhat a little joke, but two series wins in a row is important. Hopefully, they can go into Baltimore today and take the one-game series from the O's. Benson against Robertson sounds like a good match-up.
The boys are off to Kansas City this week-end. Hopefully, they can go in there and play well. It's important. Because during the last week-end of the season, the Sox match-up against the Tigers' latest nemesis, the Minnesota Twins. I have a feeling that we'll be rooting for the ChiSox for the first time in a LONG time during that series.
The scenario I would like to see is that the Tigers would win the AL Central, Twins get the wildcard, and the Yankees (clinched already) and Athletics win their divisions. Then, the Tigers would start off against the Athletics and the Yankees and Twins would square off. Friends, who would you like to see the Tigers play in the ALCS ... Minnesota or New York.
Eat 'em up. Just eat 'em up. Spit 'em out if you have to. It's that time of year.
Go 4 It!
Oh yeah, Bondy looked decent last night, as did Zoom Zoom. Jones did okay. He doesn't look the same when it's not a save situation.
