And it goes right, it goes wrong, it ends right ...
All's well that ends well.
The Tigers beat up on the Chicago White Sox in Chicago tonight. They led quickly in the first inning when Mr. Clutch his a two-run shot with Curtis Granderson (from Chicago) on base. The Tigers followed with two more hits, but a triple play ended the inning.
A great start from Kenny Rogers today and decent bullpen work from Fernando Rodney and Jamie Walker. Rogers has been solid his last several starts. Tomorrow night, Justin Verlander goes against the Sox. Earlier in the year -- around the turning point of Aug. 7 -- it was discovered that Verlander may have been tipping his pitches.
Nice hitting by Inge to put the game out of reach in the ninth inning. This is the Tigers team we've been missing for almost six weeks. These guys play nine hard innings and are seriously in pursuit of a victory, and now, a playoff spot. The Twins were off tonight, so the Tigers lead is extended to 1-1/2 games.
Winning the series in Chicago would be a huge plus, both mentally and physically. Pulling out a win on the one-game trip to Baltimore would be grand, too. But, it's one game at a time!
This season is winding down and it looks like the Tigers might have wound up at just the right time!
"Eat 'em up, Tigers. Eat 'em up!"
