Where Have I Been?
If you were checking out the blog, you might have noticed that I haven't posted in a few days ...
I attended the ASSIST Conference in Glen Arbor, Michigan. The conference went hand-in-hand with the topic of my Education Specialist Thesis: New Teacher Induction. Held at The Homestead Resort, the conference ran from Wednesday night through Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. It was quite intensive and the 40 or so attendees were exposed to a great deal, including the website. We were given a great many materials and even began working on, or refining, our induction plans. Since this was part of a grant and a project of both Michigan State University and the Michigan Department of Education, the cost to our district was minimal. In September, I have two follow-up days of training.
But, why didn't I post? If you wanted to use the Internet (who would want to keep up to date on blogs, email, and all that ...) you had to go to the registration center. It was actually "all right" to be disconnected for a little while (yeah, right!)
The conference was excellent, the resources vast, and now I have to incorporate it all and synthesize it into our district's new teacher induction program ....
