Where are your bats?
The Tigers hitting has disappeared.
It goes back to what we have been discussing all season -- even when we were 40 games over .500. The Tigers strike out WAY TOO MUCH. They don't move runners over very well either.
The loss of Placido Polanco magnifies this, too, because he is the one Tiger NOT prone to striking out regularly. Brandon Inge, Curtis Granderson, Magglio Ordonez, Craig Monroe ... these guys are striking out way too often. Grandy leads the majors with 132 -- from the leadoff spot. Even Chris Shelton is still in the top-20 with 98. He's been gone almost a month now!
To win in October, the Tigers have to adjust their at bats -- the way they did yesterday in the second inning. And the second inning only. To give away a six-run lead, you would have thought it was August of '05.
Eat 'em up, Tigers ... Eat 'em up. You have a HUGE series beginning tonight. Let's show the White Sox that Chicago "ain't no big deal."
