Lefthanded hitting Bobby ...

It seems not too long ago the Tigers were rumored to be trading with the Phillies. The trade would involve a lefthanded hitter named Bobby. Bobby Higginson was going to be dealt to Philly for Pat Burrell. Today, the rumor out there is dying about Bobby Abreu; however, let's get CSI into this: let's examine the evidence closely.

The Tigers designated Alexis Gomez for assignment yesterday and recalled an unknown pitcher, Colby Lewis. The reasoning was that the Tigers bullpen was really used during the Cleveland series and they may be needed during the upcoming battle with the Twins. Well, it seems to reason that something must be in the works. I think the Tigers will give up very little (maybe Humberto Sanchez) to pick up Abreu and his contract (and extension). The Abreu talk has really died due to many reasons. Some speculate that he's lazy and doesn't get up for all games. I think that would change under Jim Leyland.

Anyway, Abreu would be an excellent addition to the line-up because he is frequently on base. He could bat sixth and provide RBI opportunities for our excellent Gold Glove candidate third-sacker, Brandon (B.I.) Inge. Has anyone watched this kid play lately? He's lighting it up. He may be the best defensive third-basemen in the American League. I like the way he plays and his arm is classified as a Rocket!

Peace.
