Last Game, Last Year
The last game I attended last season was Sept. 23, when the Tigers played the Seattle Mariners. It was the last ballgame that I went to with my Grandpa. Just over a month later, Grandpa passed away. We had a great time at the game, talked a lot of baseball, and a lot of life.
It wasn't long after that, that Grandpa told my Dad, "Boy, Rick sure does know how to get around Detroit." Once you've done it once or twice, getting around Detroit is not too bad.
The Tigers are away in Kansas City on Sept. 23 this fall. Their next home game on the schedule is Sept. 26, against the Blue Jays. I think I might start a new tradition and go to the Sept. 23 game every season.
When the Tigers lost 2-1 to the Mariners on that night, Grandpa and I had a good talk about Alan Trammell as manager. We even found ourselves saying that Sparky Anderson wasn't that bad of a manager, after all ... We talked about the changes the Tigers needed to make ... As much as I'm enjoying this renaissance season in Detroit, I bet Grandpa's digging it, too!
Go, Tigers!
