Independence Day 2006

The Fourth of July ...

Spent a couple of hours on the golf course this morning with Steve. He knows what he's doing on the links, I'm a rookie. I'm learning, though -- haven't decided if I like it or not.

After the golf, I roller bladed about 15 miles on the Fred Meijer Heartland Trail in Montcalm County, Mich. Usually, I blade about 10 miles, but went a little bit farther today. It's good exercise, plus I listen to my iPod Shuffle and just jam. I've downloaded a number of tunes lately ... "Brand New Girlfriend," "Redneck Yacht Club," "When You're Going Through Hell," etc. I haven't had it yet on the trail, but Tom Petty's new single, "Saving Grace" is pretty good, as well. I found it available on iTunes when I got back from the long blade.

It's fun to listen to new music. Couple weeks back I bought Billy Joel's new LP, 12 Gardens. Luckily, I had already uploaded the songs to my computer, because I somehow lost the CDs. I'm not sure how I lost them ...

By the way, I just finished watching the Tigers lose to the Oakland Athletics in 10 innings. Justin Verlander pitched really well, but Fernando Rodney, who is really struggling, lost the game by walking two in the tenth and giving up a bloop single.

Thanks for tuning in ... I'll write more later.
