Tim Horton's

Today, I'm going to write a short blurb about Tim Horton's, Canada's most famous export. I first went to a Timmy's in Drayton Plains, Michigan. I couldn't even tell you why I stopped in. Yes, Tim was a hockey player, but I never knew that until I'd been going to the place for a couple years. The Boston Cream donuts are excellent and the coffee has a sugarry sweetness that is hard to describe. Heck, I never even liked coffee until I was in my mid-20s, so I don't know what caused me to stop at Tim's.

Funny thing ... if I get bad service, I'll usually never go to someplace a second time. Well, the DP Tim Horton's service was spotty at best and the employees seemed a bit clueless. They couldn't even figure out how to open the $3.99 bonus coffee mug I purchased. They didn't say "Thanks" -- they just seemed to be like, whatever ....

Well, the one in Saginaw had somewhat better service, but it still had the delicious donuts and hot, fresh, sweet coffee. So, when we would go over to Saginaw to do some shopping (rural Michigan lacks shopping, so it's an hour drive anywhere you want to go) I would convince us to stop at Tim Horton's.

Then, one day last fall, my dad and I were going to The Home Depot in Mt. Pleasant (that's only a 40-minute drive) and right next door to Wendy's on Pickard Drive (you know, right across from Meijer), I noticed a new building going in. "Tim Horton's," my dad said. "What's that?"

I said, "Really, are you serious? The sign said there's a Tim Horton's going in there!?! It's only the best donut shop in America." So, now, we drink Tim Horton's brand coffee at home and I use Tim Horton's mugs. I don't even know why. Usually, the brand I plug is Detroit Baseball Club, but for some reason, I like to advertise for Timmy. Couldn't tell you why.

Thanks for reading!
