Chris Shelton Homers Again

Chris Shelton, slugging Tigers first baseman and former Rule 5 Draft Pick, hit a homer in the ninth inning today. It wasn't enough, though, as the Tigers fell to the Chisox 4-3. Another close game, but not close enough. You're probably wondering where all the offense went ... it stayed on vacation because Comerica Park is 30 feet below sea level. It's about the toughest place in the world to hit a homer. It reminds me of Juan Gonzalez (you remember him, right) when he first took batting practice at the Copa. He took one swing, dropped his bat, and said, "This will be my only year here." He was honest. But if he had accepted that 8-year, $140 million offer, he's still be a Tiger .... Oh, what a mess that might be. Good luck, Juan. And in all reality, Chris Shelton is going to have a fine year. Probably not a home run title type year, but a darn good season.

I think I saw Juan sitting shotgun in a limo that Higgy was driving on opening day. It appeared that he pulled his hamstring while opening the car door.

That is correct. Actually Juan was riding in a Higginson-owned limo; however, the driver was ... JOSE LIMA!
