Obscure Bookstores and Me
I love buying books.
I have loved books since I was a little dude visiting the mall in Flint with my Grandma Morgan and my Mom. I remember that I couldn't wait to read the Hardy Boys books. I have no idea why I was so interested in learning to read when I was a little kid. I just loved books.
Of course, it has become a problem.
I have a complete home library. The photo above is a a little less than half of my library. I have been buying books forever. I love an obscure used bookstore. I visit them whenever I can. You never know when or where you'll find a book you've been looking for forever!
The photo at the top of this page is from the Blue Vase Book Exchange in Interlochen, Michigan. It used to be used located in a remote spot in Traverse City. The original space was an old warehouse that was small and dilapidated. But it was awesome. Now, the new location is beautiful, bright, and located in a renovated grocery store. Either version works, but I was partial to the one where it seemed like you could find a treasure! That's Teddy, who will hopefully LOVE books (and baseball) too.
I have been to HUGE used book shoppes in Detroit, Cincinnati, Alexandria, Los Angeles — really, just about anywhere I visit, I check out a used bookstore. I think it used to annoy the people I travel with, but now they try to find one BEFORE me and take me there (thanks, Amber!)
When you get a chance, grab a newspaper, buy a book, or visit a library. Read something today!
